Worcester care home brings festive cheer to hundreds of local children

A Worcester care home’s successful toy drive has helped support dozens of local families this Christmas.

Care UK’s Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, teamed up with Holy Trinity and St Matthews Church, in Ronkswood, to encourage the community to donate new toys and gifts for children in need this Christmas.

Local people, the family members and friends of Perry Manor residents, and team members all came together to donate a whopping 105 Christmas gifts, which were given to children aged four to 11 at Perry Wood Primary and Nursery School and beyond. Additionally, residents and team members put together four hampers, filled with self-care goodies and festive treats, for local families.

Katherine Matthews, Home Manager at Perry Manor, said: “Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year – and we’re so proud to have helped bring the community together to support local families.

“When we launched our toy drive earlier this month, we never expected to receive hundreds of donations. We’ve been truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our team, of residents’ families, and of everyone in the Worcester community.

“We’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and we’re looking forward to continuing to support those in need in our community throughout 2025.”

Reverend Rob Farmer, from Holy Trinity and St Matthew’s Church, said: “We were delighted when Perry Manor told us about the toy drive they were planning to have this Christmas. Holy Trinity & St Matthew’s Church are always looking for ways in which we can link up our community partners to improve lives in Ronkswood, and this was the perfect opportunity to support families with children at Perry Wood Primary and Nursery School.

“The response far exceeded our expectations and everyone at the school and church were overwhelmed by the generosity shown. Perry Manor also provided some beautiful food hampers which will also be given to families in the community. Our grateful thanks to Perry Manor on behalf of Perry Wood Primary and Nursery School and Holy Trinity and St Matthew’s Church.”

Perry Manor is a state-of-the-art Care UK home, which provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite care.
