Residents at a Kidderminster care home have spent a Christmasy afternoon with local pupils.
Year six pupils from Comberton Primary School visited residents at Care UK’s Brook Court, on Oldnall Road, to celebrate the festive season. The two generations came together for a Christmas carol sing-along, where everyone enjoyed belting out classics including o Come all ye faithful and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
Residents are keen to continue to build on the blossoming friendship with the local children and plan to work together on more fun activities and initiatives in the new year.
John-Paul Dayus, 54, resident and former band member, said: “It was so nice to enjoy the lovely live music from young people. It makes Christmas feel real for us!”
Shirley Summerbell, Home Manager at Brook Court, said: “We’re feeling really festive here at Brook Court, and spending an afternoon singing everyone’s favourite Christmas carols with pupils from Comberton Primary School was a delight.
“Intergenerational relationships have proven to be enriching for both young and older people, as they provide an opportunity for the different generations to learn from each other. It was wonderful to chat about the traditions the different generations look forward to each year, and share happy memories of Christmases gone by.
“It is no doubt that there is a beautiful friendship forming between our home and pupils from Comberton Primary School – we’re looking forward to working together again in the new year!”
