A care home manager in Horndean is celebrating after winning big at a national awards ceremony.
The Star Awards recognise individual and team excellence at more than 150 homes nationwide, across Care UK’s Residential Care Services division.
Aimee Sparks, Home Manager at Care UK’s Pear Tree Court, on Portsmouth Road, walked away with the ‘Outstanding Leadership’ award – one of 24 accolades handed out during the ceremony.
Aimee joined the Pear Tree Court team in 2023 after a successful role in a specialist service and a five-year span working for the NHS in hospital, specialising in elderly care and orthopaedics.
Aimee says she is passionate about her role as home manager at Pear Tree Court and that caring for residents on a long-term basis provides the opportunity to really get to know each resident and their loved ones.
On winning the award, Aimee said: “I’m really surprised and over the moon to be chosen for this award from so many homes. I’ve been at Pear Tree Court for 18 months, so the turnaround has been super-quick and I’m very appreciative of everyone’s efforts. I’m going to have to find a special place for this award.”
Admired by team members and residents alike for her hardworking nature, Aimee was praised by the judges for her outstanding commitment to residents' health and happiness.
The award recognises Aimee as a strong leader who supports the team at Pear Tree Court with inspiration, motivation and clear direction, to deliver exceptional quality and commercial performance underpinned by a strong, values-based culture within the home.
Aimee added: “The Star Awards ceremony was a truly inspirational event celebrating the amazing work that takes place in Care UK homes across the UK. Being able to grow our own talent within our home has great benefits. It allows team members to get to know residents incredibly well, understanding their individual likes and dislikes, and building strong relationships.
“Pear Tree Court has gone from strength to strength and I am so proud of the delivery of care we have achieved, which in turn has seen amazing outcomes for the people that live here. Once again, I’m so grateful to have won this award and would like to thank all of my colleagues at Pear Tree Court for their continuous support.”
Pear Tree Court is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema and hair salon, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
