Bury St Edmunds care worker celebrates national award win

A care home worker in Mildenhall, Buy St Edmunds, is celebrating after they were recognised at a national awards ceremony.

Vikki Laver, Healthcare Assistant (HCA) at Care UK’s Mildenhall Lodge, on St John’s Close, was awarded the title of ‘Care Assistant of the Year’ at the Residential Care Services (RCS) Stars Awards.

The awards recognise individual and team excellence at more than 150 care homes nationwide across Care UK’s RCS division. The ‘Care Assistant of the Year’ award celebrates individuals who consistently deliver outstanding levels of care to residents.

Judges praised Vikki for her caring nature and passion for enhancing residents' lives, which has been recognised and valued by relatives, residents, and colleagues alike. Vikki, who has worked at Mildenhall Lodge for 6 years, always goes the extra mile to ensure residents live fulfilled lives.  She is recognised as a true team player and someone who always provides a supportive helping hand, taking on anything to help the residents. This includes supporting residents on days out, hosting celebration parties for birthdays, and fulfilling wishes from the home’s wishing tree initiative

Commenting on her win, Vikki said: “To be chosen as the carer of the year just feels amazing! I was really taken aback when my name was called, and it means the world to me to have been nominated by colleagues, residents and relatives.”

Jennie Rodger, Regional Director at Care UK, added: “Being recognised for ‘Care Assistant of the Year’ is a true testament to Vikki’s hard work and commitment to making Mildenhall Lodge a wonderful home for both the residents and team.

“This award recognises team members who go the extra mile, and Vikki has certainly proven to us all what it means to be a dedicated carer – well done, Vikki!”
