A care home in Kingston Vale commemorated Remembrance Day with local pupils.
Residents from Care UK’s Sherwood Grange, on Robin Hood Lane, joined children from the Robin Hood Primary and Nursery School for a special Remembrance Day assembly where the children learned about the history of World War Two.
Adding to the atmosphere on the day, local Army solider, Andy Cooke, played the Last Post on the trumpet.
Bridget Miller, aged 87, said: “It was a very moving assembly and lovely to share it with the children.”
Malgo Wcislo, General Manager at Sherwood Grange, said: “It was incredibly moving to see the interactions between residents and the children. These kinds of experiences help build relationships between the generations and offer insights that can’t be taught in a classroom. Remembrance Day is about honouring the past, and we did just that.
“We could see how special the experience was for residents, particularly as they listened to the Last Post being played. We want to say a huge thank you to the Robin Hood Primary and Nursery School for inviting us to join you.”
Sherwood Grange has been designed to encourage residents to live active and fulfilling lives, while remaining as independent as possible in a safe environment. The ‘good-rated, state-of-the-art care home features a cinema, hair salon and art studio, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room, to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
