Work has now started to build a new multi-million-pound care home in Southampton complete with its very own café, cinema and hair salon.
When finished, the new Care UK home, on Banister Road, will provide residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for up to 80 older people, and will create 97 jobs.
The home, which is expected to welcome the first residents in December 2025, will include facilities such as a cinema, café, and hair salon. Secure and wheelchair friendly landscaped outdoor space will include sensory gardens, water features and seating to give residents the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors.
Justin Daley, Development Project Manager for Care UK, said: “We’re delighted to share that work has commenced at Southampton’s new site – this impressive development reflects our commitment to improving residential care in the region.
“At Care UK we take great pride in the build quality of each home, carefully considering design and layout in order to improve the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment. This thoughtfully planned new home will live up to these standards, providing a high-quality home for older people in Southampton and surrounding areas.
Neil Carter, Managing Director at Carter Lauren Construction Limited, added: “Construction is off to a great start and we’re on track to complete the work by December 2025. We’re thrilled to be working with Care UK on their brand-new Southampton care home, bringing our expertise as a developer to the project. We’re already looking forward to reaching our next milestone in the coming months.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new Care UK home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
