The winner of a competition to name the suites at a brand-new care home in Yate has been announced.
Keen for names with a cultural or historical significance to the area, the team at Care UK’s Ladden View, on Fletcher Road, reached out to the public for suite names, knowing that those with connections to the town would be the best to help with the task.
The winning names were inspired by an entry from Katherine Coldicott, who was influenced by the natural beauty in the Gloucestershire countryside – one of her family’s favourite staycation locations. The home’s suites will be named Avon, Hazel, Frome and Trym – representing the rivers which run through the area.
Ladden View will be divided into four suites, each comprising a number of bedrooms and a lounge for residents. This encourages the creation of tight-knit communities within the home and provides space for group activities.
Commenting on her win, Katherine said: “I’m thrilled my suggestions have helped inspire the suite names – Yate is surrounded by beautiful scenery and these names reflect that.”
Justin Daley, Development Project Manager at Care UK, added: “Picking the suite names for a new home is one of the key milestones in preparation for opening our doors and welcoming residents. All of the suggestions we received were of a very high quality, making our decision a difficult one, but we felt using the names of the rivers which run through the nearby countryside to be a great way to reflect the calming atmosphere we hope to foster at Ladden View.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to submit an entry and to Katherine for inspiring the winning suite names!”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new Care UK home will provide full-time residential and specialist dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, for up to 75 older people.
