Macclesfield care home shortlisted for North Care Home of the Year

A Macclesfield care home is celebrating after its home manager was shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

The team at Care UK’s Hollins Park, on Victoria Road, is in the running to be named ‘Leader of the Future’ at this year’s Leading Women in Care Awards.

The Leading Women in Care Awards celebrate the individual successes of trailblazing women in the industry, as well as their commitment to enhancing care standards in the UK.

Tracy, who was awarded with the Queen’s Nurse Accolade, and named ‘Best Dementia Care Manager’ at the 2023 National Dementia Care Awards, has been the Home Manager at Hollins Park since 2017. Under her leadership, the home has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, a national watchdog.

A dedicated leader with a can-do attitude, Tracy always arrives early enough in the mornings to greet the night team, and ensures she has a chance to speak with every resident and colleague each day. Leading by example, she regularly picks up night shifts at the home as a registered nurse to seek more opportunities to connect with residents.

In addition to supporting residents, Tracy also believes in encouraging team members to develop into the best version of their professional selves. As such, she spends as much time as possible with every new starter and allocates team members with specific projects to give them a chance to shine. Recently, her team has undertaken a ‘Connecting with the Senses’ project, which saw residents and team members work together to transform the garden.

Tracy commented: “It’s an honour to be shortlisted as a ‘Leader of the Future’ alongside so many amazing women in the industry. Running a care home is a team effort, and I couldn’t do it without the support of my amazing colleagues.”

Dave Ankers, Regional Director at Care UK, added: “Tracy has been with us since she was 16 – and we knew from the start just how much talent she had.

“Exceptional managers like Tracy are instrumental in shaping the culture of a care home. Her passion shines through everything she does, and this is reflected in Hollins Park’s atmosphere – which radiates with excellence under her leadership. Her hands-on approach to care management, as well as her dedication to training, nurturing team members and their gifts, makes a real difference in residents’ lives.

“Thank you for all you do, Tracy – the home wouldn’t be the same without you! We’ll all have our fingers crossed for a win on the night.”

The Leading Women in Care Awards ceremony will take place International Women’s Day (8th March) at The Dilly, in London.

Hollins Park has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.
