A care home in Lowestoft is celebrating after being nominated for two national awards.
Care UK’s Britten Court, on Love Road, has been nominated for ‘Team of the Year’ in the Public Sector Catering Awards 2024 and have made it through to the finals of the Care Home Catering Awards 2024.
Both the Public Sector Catering Awards and Care Home Catering Awards celebrate the creativity of individuals and teams that work within the sector.
Head Chef, Kamal Djedda, and his team stood out to judges thanks to their extensive knowledge of every residents’ food preference and their commitment to ensuring food is tasty, well-presented and of a high quality.
Kamal and Sous Chef, Andrew Golder, are passionate about ensuring that residents maintain a nutrient dense, healthy and balanced diet allowing them to live active and fulfilling lives.
They also fully involve residents and relatives in the dining experience, by suggesting their favourite homemade snacks for the coffee shop or putting forward new dishes for evening meals, this has included hunter’s chicken, chicken chasseur and salmon.
The team at Britten Court love joining the residents at dinner time – making it a wonderfully social occasion and an opportunity to get to know the residents on a more meaningful level, putting a smile on their faces.
Chloe Swarbrick, Home Manager at Care UK’s Britten Court, said: “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for two national catering awards – a true testament to the skill of our chefs.
“We are so proud of Kamal, Andrew and expert kitchen team at Britten Court – they make such a positive difference to everyone and cook some of the most delicious and nutritional food. They work hard every day and certainly deserve to be recognised nationally!
“We are all keeping our fingers crossed for multiple wins later this year!”
The 2024 Public Sector Catering Awards are taking place on Thursday 4th April at the Hilton London Metropole and the Care Home Catering Awards will take place on Sunday 30th June at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, London
