A care home in Cardiff was joined by a local school to help kick-start the Christmas festivities – with the help of a very special guest.
Residents at Care UK’s Llys Herbert, on Ty-Draw Road, were paid a special visit from pupils at Llysfaen Primary School for a morning of Christmas fun so exciting that even Santa took a few hours off to come along.
The children and residents were given the full VIP experience when they were invited to dine with Santa, enjoying a delicious festive breakfast of Christmas tree-shaped pancakes complete with berry ‘baubles’, specially made by the home’s talented Head Chef.
Once everyone had their fill, residents were treated to a live performance from the school’s choir, who performed a range of classic Christmas carols for everyone to sing along to.
Therisa Galazka, Home Manager at Llys Herbert, added: “We’re all well and truly getting into the festive spirit here at Llys Herbert, and having the children from Llysfaen Primary School visit was a wonderful surprise for the residents – especially when Santa made an appearance too.
“Intergenerational relationships are incredibly enriching for both younger and older people, as they provide an opportunity for the different generations to learn from each other. Especially at Christmas, it’s a wonderful chance to share festive traditions between the generations and exchange Christmas memories.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to the children from Llysfaen Primary School for coming along, and to Santa for taking a day off during this busy time – Merry Christmas everyone!”
Llys Herbert is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the home has its very own cinema, café and hair salon, and there is plenty of space – both indoors and out – for relaxation and recreation.
