Party time! Community joins local care homes for ultimate summer festivals

Three care homes in Hampshire hit the right note as they opened their doors to local people for an unforgettable day of music and entertainment.

Care UK’s Ancasta Grove, in Southampton, Parker Meadows, in Fareham, and Pear Tree Court, in Horndean, were joined by the people of Hampshire for their very own festivals.

The fun-filled events came as the homes celebrated Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

At Ancasta Grove guests enjoyed tasty treats, which were prepared by the home’s Head Chef. From canapes to a barbecue, there was something to tickle everyone’s taste buds – including a summer Pimms, which guests enjoyed in the home’s picnic area.

Parker Meadows was transformed into the wild west for a country and western themed festival. Guests enjoyed line dancing to traditional country tunes and special themed cocktails.

While at Pear Tree Court the team welcomed entertainers, including magician Paul Leach and guitar duo The Jazz Bandits, to their very own festival.

General Manager at Parker Meadows, Matthew Smith, said: “We certainly welcomed the summer in style at Care UK with our very own festivals.

“We are always looking for new and exciting ways to support residents to lead fulfilling lives – and what better way to do that than to host our very own festivals, we certainly pulled out all the stops.

“I’d like to thank the local community and the people of Hampshire for attending our truly memorable events – and a huge well done to all the team for organising such a musically good festival!”
