Lord High Chancellor joins local care home to rock around the clock

A care home in Cheltenham welcomed friends, neighbours and a very special guest for its summer festival.

The team at Care UK’s Sandfields, on St George’s Road, were joined by Alex Chalk, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain and MP for Cheltenham and the people of Cheltenham for their summer festival.

In true festival fashion, residents, team members and guests alike donned their best festival attire – including flower crowns and garlands, and the home was decorated with inflatable flowers and instruments.

With live entertainment was from local singer, Wolfren Riverstick, who sang favourites from the 1950s, 60s and 70s, guests put on their dancing shoes and showed off their best moves.

Visitors were also treated to a visit from an ice cream van, providing a much-needed treat after a day of dancing.

82-year-old Isobel Cook, a resident at Sandfields, said: “I’d never been to a festival before but I had such a lovely day – the steel drums were amazing!”

Dorothy Pye, Home Manager at Sandfields, added: “We were delighted to welcome the local community to our summer festival and particularly thrilled to be joined by MP Alex Chalk.

“Our festival offered a wonderful opportunity for intergenerational interaction, as families, friends, and neighbours came together to enjoy the festivities. Children showcased their dance moves alongside residents, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity across all age groups. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the community to witness the vibrant and active lifestyle enjoyed by residents at Sandfields.

“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the team here at Sandfields for organising such a wonderful event, and to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success – we’re already looking forward to our next party!”
