A party to remember! Local community joins Sidcup care home for brand-new festival

Home news

A care home in Sidcup welcomed the local community to boogie on down this summer.

Residents and team members at Care UK’s Smyth Lodge, on Frognal Avenue, were joined by the Sidcup community for their first-ever summer festival.

The fun-filled event came as Smyth Lodge celebrated Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

The festival saw guests enjoy live entertainment from Santino who performed famous songs from throughout the decades – which got everyone up on the dance floor.

Guests enjoyed a traditional summer barbecue prepared by the home’s Head Chef. To ensure everyone stayed cool in the sunshine, there was also an ice cream van on the day – much to everyone’s delight.

Tracey Cheeseman, Home Manager at Smyth Lodge, said: “We loved welcoming the local community to our summer festival.

“Care Home Open Week offered the perfect opportunity to get together with loved ones and enjoy a celebration of live music. Many residents at Smyth Lodge have fond memories of attending music festivals in their younger years, and this event encouraged them to look back and relive their festival going years.

“We hope everyone who joined us had a great time and can’t wait to strike a chord with residents and the wider community again soon.”
