A care home in Sidcup marked the festival of light, Diwali, with an afternoon celebrating Hindu culture.
At Care UK’s Smyth Lodge, on Frognal Avenue, resident Sushila who celebrates Diwali as a part of the Hindu religion enjoyed sharing her culture with her fellow residents, relatives and team members. She spoke about the history of the festival and how important it is to her and others. Sushila also shared some of her favourite music, and everyone enjoyed traditional Indian cuisine made by the home’s head chef.
Commenting on the event, 95-year-old resident Joyce, said: “I had a lovely time celebrating and learning about Diwali with my great-granddaughters.”
