Let the good vibes roll! Kingston Vale care home invites local community to a festival to remember

Home news

A new festival is coming to Kingston Vale – and you won’t believe where it’s taking place.

On 1 July, from 2pm – 4pm, Care UK’s Sherwood Grange, on Robin Hood Lane, is set to hit the right note as it opens its doors to local people for a brand-new ‘Rock n Roll’ themed Festival.

The fun-filled festival comes as Sherwood Grange celebrates Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

The festival will see guests invited to dance along to live entertainment from local performers, Vintage, who will be performing famous Rock n Roll classics from throughout the decades – sure to get the party started.

Guests will also be able to enjoy a traditional summer barbeque, including hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and kebabs, which has been prepared by the home’s Head Chef. To ensure everyone stays cool in the much-anticipated sunshine, the home has also planned an ice cream trolley, complete with candy floss and other sweet treats.

Kristina Jacunskiene, Home Manager at Sherwood Grange, commented: “We’re excited to be opening our doors to the local community to celebrate Care Home Open Week with our very own Rock n Roll festival.

“For older people, reminiscing about nostalgic events, including festivals and watching live music, can help bring back happy memories, as well as prompting conversation and connection with those around them. For those living with dementia, these positive feelings gained from revisiting fond memories can help decrease stress, reduce agitation, and improve mood too.

“We’re excited to be welcoming the Kingston Vale community as we open our doors and ask everyone to join us in putting their dancing shoes on as we get the opportunity to be young, wild and free once more!”
