Residents at an Ashford care home stepped through the looking glass for an afternoon of fun to celebrate World Book Day.
Residents and team members at Care UK’s Montfort Manor, on Kennington Road, donned hats and costumes for a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic, Alice in Wonderland to celebrate World Book Day.
The team welcomed family members and residents to an immersive experience, where the home was adorned with paper chains, balloons, bunting and flowers. Team members dressed as different characters from the books including the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, and Alice herself.
To ensure the Mad Hatter could enjoy their tea party, the home’s talented head chef Anna prepared sandwiches, cakes, scones and canapes, for everyone to enjoy.
Commenting on the afternoon, resident, Ann, said: “It was so nice to see the characters of Alice in Wonderland come to life by the team. It made the whole day extra special.”
Joanne Eaton, Home Manager at Montfort Manor, said: “We had a brilliant time making our own wonderland to celebrate Lewis Carroll’s famous tale for World Book Day. Our Mad Hatter's Tea Party was a huge success and enjoyed by everyone.
“Here at Montfort Manor, we work hard to come up with entertaining activities, and drawing inspiration from our favourite novels is a great way to promote reminiscence while getting creative and indulging in some tasty goodies. We’re already looking forward to our next tea party!”
