Residents at a Witney care home have not let the new restrictions stop them from keeping in touch with friends this Christmas.
Care UK’s Millers Grange, on Curbridge Road, received a special delivery from the neighbouring St Hugh of Lincoln Nursery School to celebrate the festive season.
Handmade by the local pupils, a big red Christmas card arrived at the care home, featuring messages and festive greetings to residents. The children also performed Christmas carols by the care home’s entrance to help residents get in the festive spirit.
Throughout the pandemic, residents and children have been enjoying regular chats and sing-alongs together over the fence which separates the home and the nursery. The activities aimed to replace the usual in-person visits, which were interrupted as lockdown restrictions came into place last year.
Alison Parry, Home Manager at Millers Grange, said: “We’re feeling really festive here at Millers Grange, and receiving these Christmas cards was a wonderful surprise for residents.
“Intergenerational relationships have proven to be enriching for both young and older people, as they provide an opportunity for the different generations to learn from each other. We have a great relationship with St Hugh of Lincoln Nursery School and residents have loved seeing them over the fence throughout lockdown, and having them outside the home for Christmas carols.
“We can’t wait to be able to invite the nursery to visit us in person soon.”
Millers Grange has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential dementia and respite care.
