A national care watchdog has given a Maidstone care home its seal of approval, with relatives and residents praising the caring and attentive team members.
The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report gave Care UK’s Invicta Court, on Gidd’s Pond Way, an overall ‘Good’ rating, with ‘Outstanding’ features, following an unannounced inspection.
The care home was rated ‘Outstanding’ in its responsiveness and ‘Good’ in the remaining categories, including safety, effectiveness, care, and being well led.
The report found that the care home team are ‘Outstanding’ in providing an exceptional response to meeting the individual needs of the residents and ensuring they received a tailored response to all aspects of the care they receive.
The report highlighted how the team at Invicta Court regularly review each resident’s care plan to accurately reflect their changing needs and wishes and praised how any changes are swiftly communicated to the resident’s relatives to ensure they are aware of any significant developments in their family member’s care.
The inspectors noted the high level of training and competency across all departments and were impressed with the fact that team members in all roles, including administrative and maintenance, could identify changes in resident’s needs and could calm their anxieties and seek the correct support.
The report also found the home regularly supports residents to develop and maintain relationships to avoid social isolation and create a thriving community through regular creative activities. The lifestyle coordinators were praised for creating meaningful social activities in collaboration with the residents, which has included creating a gardening and computer club, and regular cooking lessons from team members. The report highlighted how activities build on the resident’s skills and rich history, with one resident using their previous skills as a magician to perform at one of the home’s summer garden parties.
The inspectors were also impressed with the positive, cheerful, friendly atmosphere in the home – a sentiment echoed consistently by visitors. One resident said: “I like to see the staff around me because I feel safe and they’re just so kind.”
Jacqui Pompeus, Home Manager at Invicta Court, said: “I am incredibly proud of everyone here at Invicta Court, and to lead such a welcoming, caring and determined team.
