A care home in Framlingham is celebrating after a member of its team has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Team members and residents at Care UK’s Mills Meadow, on Fore Street, are celebrating after finding out Trainee Apprentice, Julie Mee, has been shortlisted for ‘Apprentice of The Year’ in the Suffolk Care Awards.
The Suffolk Care Awards recognise and celebrate the work of colleagues and organisations who provide high quality care in Suffolk’s health and social care sector. Following the pandemic, the awards focus on individuals and care organisations that have supported the wider community throughout the last nineteen months, and who are continuing to help vulnerable members navigate back to some sense of normality.
The category ‘Apprentice of the Year’ highlights an apprentice who is making an exceptional contribution to their workplace and has a positive impact on colleagues, residents, and the wider care community.
Commenting on her nomination, Julie said: “I’m thrilled to be nominated for this award. I have always wanted to work in care and love going to work where every day is different. It is a joy to be with the residents and help with the home’s day to day activities. I feel very grateful to be supported by such a great team, who encourage my ideas and support me in my career.”
Becky Calver, Home Manager at Mills Meadow, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised in the Suffolk Care Awards. This nomination is the result of the dedication and focus of Julie, who joined the team in July 2020 at a time when her caring nature and innovative ideas were extremely welcome, both to residents and team members."
“In a short space of time, Julie has made a hugely positive impact with residents and colleagues, enthusiastically setting out to learn and support everyone, while at the same time sharing her innovations with the wider team."
“Julie is a dream apprentice and colleague, who is much loved by residents and the team alike. Her willingness to embrace knowledge from colleagues means she is always alert to the most effective way to go about things."
We are incredibly lucky to have her on the team and look forward to watching her progress at Mills Meadow – best of luck Julie!
