Local care home invites Knebworth residents to understand dementia

A care home in Knebworth is inviting the local community to a free, online event for families caring for those living with dementia.

On Friday 24^th September, from 11am – 12:30pm, local people are invited to attend a virtual Understanding Dementia event hosted by Care UK’s Knebworth, on London Road. 

Dementia Champion, Colette Moreira-Henocq, will be covering topics to help people understand what it is like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers and discover positive approaches to living with the condition.

 

Vera Moreira-Henocq, Home Manager at Knebworth, said: “We’re keen to support local people caring for loved ones living with dementia, and provide them with professional knowledge, insight and effective strategies to make living with dementia a more positive experience.

“We know it can be as equally challenging as it is rewarding to care for a friend or relative living with the condition. It’s natural to feel confused about the best way to help your loved one, so our event aims to offer professional knowledge and insight to those who need it – as well as providing a hub for shared experiences.   

“We want people to know they’re not alone, and we’re here to offer support. This event has proven popular in the past and we’re looking forward to welcoming local people online for an inspiring session of information and guidance.” 

For anyone unsure about how to take part in the virtual event, help is at hand. The team at Knebworth will host the event using Zoom, which is very easy to use. Simply call or email Customer Relations Manager, Paula Brown, and she will send a link to join the event and share her tips to make the most out of the session.
