A resident at a care home in Orpington celebrated her 100th birthday with a message from the Queen and revealed the secret to living a long and happy life.
A very special birthday celebration took place at Care UK’s Foxbridge House, on Sevenoaks Road, when resident Queenie Freeman turned 100 years ‘young’ on 7th September.
To mark the occasion, Queenie revealed the secret to a long and happy life is ‘going with the flow’ and enjoying the journey that life takes you on, despite the obstacles it may throw.
For Queenie’s milestone birthday, the home team organised an afternoon tea party, surrounded by her friends at Foxbridge House, and complete with a sing-along to music from the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, which got everyone in the party spirit.
Stella Barnes, Home Manager at Foxbridge House, said: “Queenie is a much-loved and popular resident at Foxbridge House, and it was fantastic to help her celebrate this incredible milestone."
“With a name like Queenie, we knew we had to plan a truly British affair to celebrate her big day. The team quickly got to work on planning a traditional afternoon tea party where we read out the Queen’s message and enjoyed scones with jam and cream."
Here at Foxbridge House, everything we do is focused around our ethos of ensuring residents live active and fulfilling lives, so we always like to celebrate important milestones – and Queenie’s 100th birthday was no exception. It was lovely to raise a glass to Queenie on her special day.
