Residents at a care home in Framlingham were delighted to take part in a community initiative to celebrate new life.
Care UK’s Mills Meadow, on Fore Street, created 50 butterflies, along with local schoolchildren and members of the community, as part of an artwork initiative by St Michael’s Church to bring local people together and celebrate new life.
Rebecca Calver, Home Manager at Mills Meadow, said: “Here at Mills Meadow, we play an active role in our local community, which is why we were thrilled to take part in St Michael’s latest project.
“Creative activities have many positive benefits for older people, especially those living with dementia, as is it provides an alternative way to communicate and express emotions, as well as providing an opportunity to connect with the world around them.
“Many residents have been missing attending church in person, and have found purpose and connection in watching the zoom services and engaging with the local community through this collaborative project. Everyone has enjoyed seeing the photos of the display, and we look forward to being able to see it for ourselves as soon as we are safely able.”
Reverend Chris, from St Michael’s Church, added: “We have been overwhelmed with the response to our community butterfly project, and in total have received over 200 creations from local people. The display has really brightened up the entrance to the church, and we are delighted our friends at Mills Meadow have helped bring this to life. We hope it remains as a symbol of new life and hope for the year ahead.”
