Thorrington care home thanks local community for their support

A care home in Thorrington has thanked those who have gone the extra mile to support residents throughout the coronavirus pandemic, from members of the community to its dedicated team. 

Care UK’s Silversprings, on Tenpenny Hill, has expressed its gratitude for the consideration and generosity shown by the people of Thorrington over the past couple of months.

From volunteering, to delivering messages and artwork to brighten everyone’s day, individuals and organisations have pulled together to support the older members of the community, and Care UK homes across the country have been overwhelmed by the kind gestures of local people.

Silversprings has been inundated with support, receiving tokens of appreciation from Essex County Council, as well as letters from relatives. One resident also received a CD player as part of a local wishing line initiative, by Care Home Friends and Neighbours, which allows members of the community to grant wishes for local care home residents.

Whether it’s baking for a resident’s birthday, keeping the morale up through creative activities or helping residents to stay connected with their families, team members at Silversprings have also been praised for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts over the past few months.

Donna Cousins, home manager at Silversprings, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past couple of months, whether that be through volunteering, sending tokens of appreciation, or writing letters to residents.

“Every single thought, message and gesture has helped to raise the spirits of our fantastic team and has brightened the days of residents missing their families. It really has kept everyone going.
