Bracknell and Ascot care homes thank local community for their support in heart-warming video

Bracknell and Ascot care homes thank local community for their support in heart-warming videoTwo care homes in Bracknell and Ascot have thanked those who have gone the extra mile to support residents throughout the coronavirus pandemic, from the members of the community to its dedicated team members.

Unable to say thank you in person yet, residents and team members at Care UK’s Bickerton House, on Warfield Road, Bracknell, and Larkland House, on London Road, Ascot, have sent out a virtual thank you, to express their gratitude for the consideration and generosity shown by the people of Bracknell and Ascot over the past couple of months.

From volunteering, to delivering messages and artwork to brighten everyone’s day, individuals and organisations have pulled together to support the older members of the community, and Care UK homes across the country have been overwhelmed by the kind gestures of local people.

Bickerton House was inundated with support, receiving flowers for the garden from Longacres Garden Centre, in Bagshot, and books from the library on a regular basis, as well as refreshing milkshakes made by Katie, the home’s lifestyle coordinator. Residents were also treated to a special visit from horses, brought along by Kim White, and Easter eggs from the home’s local Waitrose branch, who also sent fresh fruit and vegetable for the team.

Goodie bags were donated to every single team member by a local community group.

The home also has its very own resident blogger, Phil, 79, who brightened the days of his fellow residents and families by offering regular video updates on Facebook to share what life at Bickerton House is like.

Meanwhile, over at Larkland House, the home was treated to an Italian dining experience, including pasta and pizza, delivered by Piccolino2Go, and received gift bags, specially assembled by the communities of Ascot, Windsor and Bracknell.

Whether it’s baking for a resident’s birthday, keeping the morale up through creative activities, team members at Bickerton House and Larkland House have also been praised for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts over the past few months.

Erika Smith, home manager at Bickerton House, said: “The past few months have shown how lucky we are to share our home with many kind, wise, or creative residents and team members.

“We were especially touched with Phil’s positivity and kindness; he truly helped to keep everyone’s spirits up and I know families and friends of the home really enjoy his regular video updates – thank you Phil.”

“On behalf of everyone at Bickerton House, thank you so much.”

Jutta Staude, home manager at Larkland House, added: “We want to thank everyone in Ascot and beyond for their continued kindness throughout this challenging time.

“Both residents and team members are looking forward to welcoming back local people into Larkland House to say thank you when we are able.”
