Celebrations as new suite launches at Witney care home

A care home in Witney has launched a new suite with the help of a local nursery.

The Care UK team at Millers Grange on Curbridge Road held a ceremonial ribbon cutting to officially open its new dementia suite – with special guests from St Hugh of Lincoln Nursery.

The Bobbin Suite, which will provide dementia care for people in Witney and the surrounding area, offers a dementia-friendly environment, including reminiscence areas to encourage residents to bring back happy memories.  

It also features a Tovertafel, an interactive ‘magic table’, which stimulates the mind and encourages interaction across the generations. The interactive games, which are all about enjoyment and wonder, stimulate both physical and cognitive activity, and encourage social interaction, as well as creating treasured moments with family members and carers.

Stephen Reader, home manager at Millers Grange, said: “The Bobbin Suite launch was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate alongside our good friends at St Hugh of Lincoln Nursery. The official opening of our dementia suite is an important milestone for all of us, as it means we can now offer dementia care to the community of Witney and surrounding area.

“We have built a warm, welcoming community here at Millers Grange, with everything in place so we can provide the highest standards of personalised care. We now look forward to welcoming residents to their impressive new home over the coming months.”
