There were also speeches from residents, relatives, the care team and members of the community.
To commemorate their relationship with the home, pupils from Framlingham Primary School and Framlingham College also planted a cherry blossom tree in the home’s garden. Regional Director for Care UK, Phillip Steyn, was also on hand to officially unveil the home’s ‘Outstanding’ plaque.
Sally Shadbolt, Home Manager at Mills Meadow, said: “We are delighted that the home has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating, and everyone in the home wanted to do something special to mark this occasion.
“We all had a wonderful time celebrating our achievement, and it was fantastic to have the local community come along to raise a glass with the residents and team. To achieve such a high rating shows just how committed the team is and I’m extremely proud of each and every one of them. I would like to say a huge thank you for their hard work and dedication, which I know is also greatly appreciated by all the residents and their families.”
Care UK Regional Director, Phillip Steyn, added “Celebrating such a well-deserved achievement for Mills Meadow has been fantastic. The whole team works incredibly hard to provide the highest standard of care and support for residents, which has rightly been recognised. “The celebration was made even more special when listening to residents and relatives speak about life at Mills Meadow, and hear what life is like in an outstanding home, which empowers residents to lead fulfilled lives.
“I am very proud that our homes in Suffolk are being recognised for their commitment to outstanding care and dedication to creating a warm and happy environment, with Mills Meadow being the fourth Care UK home to receive this rating in Suffolk.” CQC inspectors gave praise for the exceptionally caring and compassionate team members at Mills Meadow, and the strong family culture that had been created in the home.
The report noted the home’s wide range of activities, including regular visits into the community, as well as trips to ballet, art galleries and theatre.
The report also included several comments from residents, which highlighted the impressive service provided by Mills Meadow. One resident said: “I am pretty lucky to live here. I want for nothing, the food is delicious, the care is first-rate, and the team understands me and knows what I need sometimes before I know myself. Nothing is too much trouble. I consider myself blessed to live here.”
Mills Meadow provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The home also runs a day club, which offers older people living independently in the community the chance to make new friends and take part in enjoyable activities.
