Framlingham care home celebrates win at Suffolk Care Awards

A care home in Framlingham is celebrating after taking home gold in the Suffolk Care Awards.

Care UK’s Mills Meadow, on Fore Street, won in the ‘Excellent Stimulating Environments’ category at the regional awards, which reward excellence and shine a light on the work that individuals and care providers undertake.

The care team at Mills Meadow was recognised for their commitment to providing a variety of activities for residents, enabling them to lead fulfilled lives. As well as organising regular activities, including a weekly day out, a textiles club and music therapy, residents are given as much freedom as possible to go out alone, encouraging them to maintain their independence.

Mills Meadow has also adopted a cat, as well as having two canaries, chickens and several tropical fish tanks which are cared for by residents.

Sally Shadbolt, home manager at Mills Meadow, said: “We are delighted to have won the ‘Excellent Stimulating Environments’ award in this year’s Suffolk Care Awards. Here at Mills Meadow, we are very proud of the wonderful environment we have created, and strive to ensure that residents are supported to live happy and fulfilled lives.

“The team is always organising new activities, many of which involve local groups. We understand the importance of creating partnerships with the local community and strive to connect residents with our neighbours by hosting clubs and events at the home.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at Mills Meadow for all of their hard work, which I know is greatly appreciated by residents and their families.”

Mills Meadow, which has recently been graded ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, is designed to deliver the very best standards of care, and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home offers a range of services as well as flexible day care at the adjacent Mills Meadow Day Club.
