A new care home in Ashford has supported a local care group by donating £1,000 and walking five kilometres in aid of carers.
Care UK’s Montfort Manor, on Kennington Road, joined forces with Carers Stepping Out, a charity which organises walks in some of Britain's greatest beauty spots, all in aid of carers and the people they care for. Home manager Cheryl, and Jane, Linda and Nicole from the team at the new care home, joined over 30 people on the walk, as well as donating £1,000 towards the event.
Cheryl Shorter, home manager at Montfort Manor, said: “We had a brilliant day out with the Carers Stepping Out team. It was lovely to meet some of the local community and enjoy a day out in the park, which is based near our new care home. We know just how vital it is to support charities which support vital assistance for carers in the community, so were delighted to take part.
“The people of Ashford have been so wonderful and welcoming to us, and we’re not even open yet. I look forward to opening our doors here in Ashford!”
Opening in autumn 2019, and designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
