Green fingered Skylark House welcomes wildly kind community group

Skylark House has partnered with local gardening community group, Wildly Kind, to create a growing space for residents and locals to enjoy.

The home has been working with the group to build and plant the garden over the last few weeks.

Wildly Kind have donated and helped to build a garden on the care homes grounds, with the volunteers then planting a variety of flowers, fruit, vegetables and plants.

The project will have great community impact, as volunteers of all ages can help maintain it with the residents. It will also offer great inter-generational benefits, as schools are welcomed to join Skylark House in upholding the garden. The supply of fresh fruit and vegetables will also be enjoyed by residents and the local community.

Devendra Lallchand, home manager at Skylark House, said: “We’re so pleased to have joined forces with Wildly Kind and to create this wonderful garden for us and the local community to enjoy.

“Spending time outdoors and connecting with nature around us can prove to be beneficial for both the physical and mental wellbeing of older people – particularly those living with dementia. While it is a calming, peaceful activity, the distinctive sounds and vibrant colours of the garden are also great for providing sensory stimulation for residents.”
