On Friday 28th June, Franklin House, on The Green, will be open from 11am - 4pm and on Saturday 29th June, The Burroughs, on Mill Road, will be open from 2pm - 4pm. The events celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Both homes have organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors to Franklin House can look forward to meeting visiting farm animals, join in with an arts and crafts workshop and enjoy a cream tea.
At The Burroughs, guests can look forward to arts and crafts sessions, live entertainment and a barbecue.
Mathew V Mathew, home manager at Franklin House, said: “The aim of this year’s Care Home Open Day is to demonstrate how care homes can be creative communities, and that is exactly what we plan to do. We can’t wait to open our doors to local people, including families, and have some fun together.
“Last year we had a great time hosting our care home open day, and I know this year is going to be even better. We look forward to making even more connections with the people of West Drayton and celebrating the vibrant environment in our home.”
Bozena Szczepaniak, home manager at The Burroughs, said: “Everyone at The Burroughs is getting excited for our Care Home Open Day event – it’s always great to see new faces visiting our home, as well as welcoming old friends, and I know this year will be just the same.
“The residents are really looking forward to the craft workshop and being able to showcase their arts and crafts after the event.”
