Get creative in Ipswich this Care Home Open Day

Get creative in Ipswich this Care Home Open Day

Care homes in Ipswich are inviting local people to join in their celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

On Friday 28th June, the team at Prince George House will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event from 11am-4pm, while Asterbury Place will be welcoming guests from 11am - 4pm on Saturday 29th June.

The events celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.

Both homes have organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Prince George House will be celebrating the day with ‘art in the community’ workshops, live musical entertainment, along with a pizza bar and cake decorating. At Asterbury Place, guests can look forward to a 1950s-inspired celebration, including live entertainment from Elvis.

Melissa Cuevas, deputy home manager at Prince George House, said: “Everyone at Prince George House is so excited to welcome the local community in for Care Home Open Day 2019. The people of Ipswich have always been so welcoming to us, it’s great to be able to give something back.”

Christine Da Silva, home manager at Asterbury Place, added: “This year’s theme of ‘Celebrating Arts in Care’ is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase all the brilliant activities we get up to on a daily basis here at Asterbury Place, so we hope that lots of local people will join us on Saturday.”
