Get creative at Whitby Dene this Care Home Open Day

Whitby Dene is inviting local people to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

On Friday 28th June from 11am - 2pm, the team at Whitby Dene, on Whitby Road, will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.

Whitby Dene has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to live entertainment from a brass band, a performance from belly and Morris dancers, plus entertainment from a ventriloquist and magician.

Salima Baidoo, home manager at Whitby Dene, said: “Creative activities are such an important part of life for people in care, whether it’s painting to help enhance hand-eye coordination, or just reminiscing by putting on some music – the arts are a vital part of life here at Whitby Dene.

“We’re so excited to be hosting our Care Home Open Day event this month. We had a brilliant time when we did this last year so it made sense for us to open our doors to the local people of Eastcote and show them just how much fun you can have in a care home.”
