On Friday 28th June, from 1.30pm - 4pm, Saturday 29th June, from 1pm - 4pm and Sunday 30th June, from 2.30pm - 3.30pm, the team at Skylark House will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Skylark House has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. On Friday visitors can look forward to an indulgent cream tea and view artwork by artist and illustrator, Claire Westwood. On Saturday guests can enjoy a delicious barbecue and browse an art exhibition, and on Sunday there will be live music from a 50s and 60s entertainment group, to get everyone in the party spirit.
Skylark House has also invited Holbrook School children to participate in an art competition & will be exhibiting some of the pictures, the theme is “It’s a Wonderful World”.
Devendra Lallchand, home manager at Skylark House, said: “Everyone at Skylark House is so excited to welcome the local community in for Care Home Open Day 2019. The people of Horsham have always been so welcoming to us, it’s great to be able to give something back.Residents are particularly looking forward to viewing the art from the school and are wondering how on earth they will manage to pick just two winners.
“This year’s theme of ‘Celebrating Arts in Care’ is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase all the brilliant activities we get up to on a daily basis here at Skylark House. And we hope that lots of local people will join us on the weekend.”
