Get creative at Mildenhall Lodge this Care Home Open Day

Mildenhall Lodge is inviting local people to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

On Saturday 29th June, from 12 noon to 4pm, the team at Mildenhall Lodge, on St John’s Close, will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.

Mildenhall Lodge has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to circus-themed workshops, fun games including a tombola, and the chance to browse a selection of summer fête stalls. Visitors can also enjoy live entertainment from Splats circus performers, and a tasty barbecue complete with ice cream van.

Katy Hughes, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “Creative activities are such an important part of life for people in care, whether it’s painting to help enhance hand-eye coordination, or just reminiscing by putting on some music – the arts are a vital part of life here at Mildenhall Lodge.

“We’re so excited to be hosting our Care Home Open Day event this June. We had a brilliant time when we did this last year so it made sense for us to open our doors to the local people of Mildenhall again and show them just how much fun you can have in a care home.”
