On Friday 28th June, from 11.30am - 3.30pm, the team at Elizabeth Lodge will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Elizabeth Lodge has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to live entertainment from Ailsa Mainwaring, a professional opera singer from Songhaven, alongside an art exhibition, showcasing residents’ paintings.
Guests will also have the opportunity to browse an array of arts and crafts stalls, and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
Michelle Sampang, home manager at Elizabeth Lodge, said: “Everyone at Elizabeth Lodge is getting excited for our Care Home Open Day event – it’s always great to see new faces visiting our home, as well as welcoming old friends, and I know this year will be just the same.
“The residents are really looking forward to Ailsa Mainwaring’s performance and being able to showcase their artistic skills after the event.”
