Wellmeadow Lodge helps local football team kick off the season

Wellmeadow Lodge is supporting local children in physical activity and sport by sponsoring a community football club.

Wellmeadow Lodge helps local football team kick off the season

Wellmeadow Lodge donated £250 to Garnkirk United Community Football Club and its 2013 group.

The donation was put towards the considerable start-up costs, and covered the purchasing of essential equipment, including footballs, cones, markers and mini goals.

Garnkirk United was established approximately 30 years ago and is run solely by volunteers from the local community. The team currently has 170 members, aged 5 to 16, while the 2013 age group alone counts for 30 players.

Catherine Brannan, home manager at Wellmeadow Lodge, said: “Here at Wellmeadow Lodge, we value our links to the community, and we are always looking for new ways to support local groups. Garnkirk United is exclusively run by volunteers in order to make football accessible for local children, and we are proud to support them and help them setting up a new age group.

“The club’s dedication is fantastic, and it’s great to see the enthusiasm of all of the team members. We will be following them throughout the season, and we are looking forward to working with the team on future projects.”

Colin Green, club secretary for Garnkirk United Community Football Club, said: “Every year, we set up a new age group, which obviously has a considerable cost implication, making donations crucial to the ongoing success of the club.

“We’d like to thank Care UK and the team at Wellmeadow Lodge for their support, and for helping us to give local children the opportunity to get involved in both the physical and social aspect of football.”
