Care UK has appointed Cheryl Shorter as home manager at its new home, Montfort Manor.
Cheryl will lead the team at the new care home when it opens in early Autumn 2019, having previously managed care homes for 11 years.
Cheryl started working as a cleaner in a residential home in 1999, and progressed throughout her career at Kent County Council to become a registered manager in 2008. She went on to be a general manager at another care home, before joining Care UK earlier this year. Her new position will see her take responsibility for the day-to-day running of Montfort Manor, which will accommodate up to 68 residents.
Throughout her career in the care sector, Cheryl has focused on forming relationships with residents, and their family and friends, to ensure residents are able to live with purpose and as independently as possible.
Commenting on her new position, Cheryl said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as the home manager at Montfort Manor. Having worked in the care industry for over 20 years, I knew that working at Care UK would be the perfect fit for me as they share my values of ensuring residents continue to live active and fulfilled lives.
“Having the opportunity to start at a brand new care home, and create a welcoming, home-from-home environment for the residents, their families, and our team, is something I’m really looking forward to. I’m excited to start my new journey with Care UK.”
