On Thursday 28th March, from 2pm - 4pm, local people are invited to visit Smyth Lodge to join in the celebrations, with help from Councillor Brian Bishop, the Lord Mayor of Bexley.
With the first residents having moved into Smyth Lodge earlier this year, everyone at the home is gearing up to mark its official opening.
The mayor will carry out the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon and unveiling of the plaque, along with Smyth Lodge’s first resident, Sheila Hannam.
During the event, Smyth Lodge will be announcing the winners of their recent local heroes’ competition, were Sidcup residents were asked to nominate deserving people or groups. The three lucky winners will be announced and receive their prizes on the day.
On arrival, guests will be welcomed by swing singer Chris Till, who will be performing a number of musical hits throughout the event.
Residents and guests will also be able to enjoy spring-themed arts and crafts, a wondering magician who’ll be performing close up tricks, and they can try their hand decorating their own cupcakes with the home’s chef.
Those who attend the event will also have the chance to meet the team at Smyth Lodge and take a tour of the care home.
Home manager at Smyth Lodge, Lorraine Eastmead, said: “Since Smyth Lodge opened, we have had such a wonderful reception from local people. We really feel like we are already part of the community, which is why we’re really pleased to be inviting locals to join us at our grand launch.
“We have planned lots of family-friendly fun and are very excited to be crowning the deserving winners of our local heroes’ competition. From cupcake decorating, to magic tricks, there is something for everyone to enjoy and I know the residents are excited for local people to visit their new home.”
