On Tuesday 5th March, from 2pm-4pm, Knebworth will open its doors to the community for a bake sale for ‘Time for a Cuppa’.
Residents and visitors will be able to relax and enjoy hot drinks, alongside a selection of indulgent treats specially prepared by Knebworth’s chefs, all of which will be available in exchange for a small donation to Dementia UK. The event is being hosted by local hero Jan Burt, who was awarded the British Empire Medal for raising over £90,000 for Admiral Nurses.
2019 marks the 10th anniversary of ‘Time for a Cuppa’, previously known as ‘A Tea Party to Remember’, an initiative launched by Dementia UK which encourages individuals and organisations across the country to host tea parties in order to raise funds. The initiative has helped funding 30 Admiral Nurses, who provide specialist dementia care and support for 6,000 people living with dementia and their families.
Home manager at Knebworth, Vera Moreira-Henocq, said: “Thousands of people around the UK are living with dementia, and we understand all too well how much this can affect their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Providing specialist dementia care is at the heart of what we do here at Knebworth, and we strongly believe that everyone deserves to have access to all the help and support they need.
“Hosting a Time for a Cuppa event provides us with a great opportunity to thank Dementia UK and the Admiral Nurses for the incredible work that they do, so we hope local people will join us on the day to share a cuppa with friends.”
