Students from Willesborough Junior School were invited to get creative by Care UK, and asked to come up with pieces of artwork around the theme ‘who do you care about?’ The artwork is now on display on the hoardings surrounding Care UK’s Montfort Manor, on Kennington Road, as the new care home begins to take shape.
The £6.5 million purpose-built care home, which will provide full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 68 older people in Ashford, is due to open in autumn 2019.
The final artwork, which will also be displayed in the home’s marketing suite when it opens later this year, was presented to the year four children by Care UK construction project manager, Gary Renton. During the visit, the children who designed the artwork had the opportunity to ask questions about the building of the new care home.
Gary said: “We were delighted to be able to collaborate with Willesborough Junior School on a lovely art project to brighten up our new care home.
“It was great to meet the children who designed the artwork, and we look forward to working with the school on future projects.”
Mrs Beretta, assistant headteacherat the school, added: “We were thrilled when Care UK asked us to be part of their exciting new venture here in Ashford. The children had a great time creating the artwork and it’s fantastic that it is now being displayed for all the community to see.”
