On Thursday 29th November from 2pm-4pm, Silversprings will be turning the clock back to 1940s Britain and taking the community on a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
Residents and visitors will have the opportunity to view WWII artefacts including military uniforms and relics from the time, experience the sound of the emergency sirens used during the war, and find out what family life was like in wartime Britain.
There will also be informative talks and demonstrations from Bradley Cooper, director of the Historical Display Company, who will be bringing a number of artefacts from the museum along with him on the day.
What’s more, guests on the day will be able to find out about food rationing during the war and taste some traditional dishes from the time.
Silversprings home manager, Donna Cousins, said: “Here at Silversprings, we regularly host reminiscence activities and events for residents, as many of them have fond memories of their younger years and have stories they love to share.
“We had a fantastic WWII event in the summer and it went down so well with local people that we wanted to take another step back in time with excellent speakers and fascinating artefacts.
“We look forward to opening our doors once more for what promises to be a fantastic day for all ages!”
