Residents at Francis Court enjoyed a visit from three friendly alpacas from Orion Tree Alpacas.
Residents gathered in the ground floor lounge to welcome the alpacas, Glen, Solo and Anakin. The alpacas were even given a tour of the home by their handler Dani, where they received plenty of fuss and attention from the residents.
As part of the session, residents learnt about the history and characteristics of alpacas, and were interested to hear facts about the animals.
Home manager at Francis Court, Mary Ballesteros, said: “We are always looking to plan interesting and exciting activities for residents, and as so many have a keen interest in nature and animals, we invited Orion Tree Alpacas along to provide a fun afternoon with our new four-legged friends.
"Not many residents had seen an alpaca before, and you could see from their reactions just how fascinated they were by the chance to get up close to the gentle-natured creatures. It proved to be a real success, and the residents all enjoyed having a cuddle with the alpacas, as well as learning about how their fleece can be used to make all sorts of different clothing. We can’t wait for Glen, Solo and Anakin to pop in for another visit soon!”
