A care home in Copthorne made ‘shore’ residents didn’t miss out on a trip to the beach.
Residents at Care UK’s Francis Court, on Borers Arms Road, wanted to make the most of the sunny weather with a trip to the beach to enjoy fish, chips and ice cream – so the team organised a special day trip to Brighton Pier.
Residents enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the seafront, before enjoying the amusements with a well-deserved ice cream.
One resident, Kay Friggens, 80, said: "We had such a lovely day out at the seaside – on such a beautiful day! It reminded me of when I met my husband years ago. We enjoyed fish and chips, ice cream and all the fun of the pier – although he was not much good at winning me a cuddly toy from the machines!”
Anna Allen, Home Manager at Francis Court, said: “Our day trip to Brighton Pier was one for the books, and there’s no doubt we’ll still be talking about it for weeks to come.
“Residents have fond memories of the seaside and often share stories from their beach holidays over the years – which is why it was so important for us to arrange a trip to the coast in our minibus before the temperatures became too hot.
“It was a fantastic day for both residents and team members, and we’re already planning our next big day out to make even more happy memories!”
Francis Court has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities. The team provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care.
