The team at Mills Meadow welcomed the people of Framlingham to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The team put a Country and Western twist on the day with fancy dress, live music from country rock singer, Man in the Hat, and a delicious barbecue, prepared specially by the home’s chefs.
On the day, residents and visitors were also able to try their luck on some traditional games, including a lucky dip and a raffle, raising more than £300 for the home’s Worry Café, which offers mental health support to the local community.
Marie Reeve, home manager at Mills Meadow, said: “We had a fantastic day celebrating Care Home Open Day with a difference this year. The residents all really enjoyed the country and western theme and getting dressed up for the occasion.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like. We would like to say a big thank you to the people of Framlingham for celebrating with us.”
