The team at Mildenhall Lodge welcomed local people to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The team organised a day of Commonwealth-inspired celebrations which included traditional Bollywood dancing and tastings of dishes from around the world.
Residents and visitors also enjoyed a variety of musical performances from a selection of local musicians which got everyone into the party spirit.
Katy Hughes, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating Care Home Open Day with a Commonwealth twist. The residents all really enjoyed experiencing different aspects of the Commonwealth, from sari wearing to trying the Australian barbecue.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like, so we were delighted to have been joined by so many of our neighours who helped make the day extra special.”
