The team at Larkland House welcomed the people of Ascot to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
Residents and visitors raised a glass to the Queen on her 92nd birthday and celebrated with a royal-inspired party. The day included a special dog show with Buzz the West Highland Terrier and Daisy the Springer Spaniel being crowned as king and queen for the day.
Guests also enjoyed a performance of wartime classics from local group, the Swingtime Sweethearts, which residents enjoyed singing along to before tucking into a special afternoon tea.
Shawnwell Barker, home manager at Larkland House, said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating this year’s Care Home Open Day with a royal twist. A highlight for many on the day was of course the dog show, and we all agreed Buzz and Daisy make a wonderful royal couple!
“We would like to say a big thank you to the people of Ascot for celebrating with us and making the day so special.”
