On Friday 20th April, from 11am-4am, the team at Whitefarm Lodge will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Whitefarm Lodge has organised a Commonwealth themed party to celebrate the open day, with residents making homemade bunting inspired by countries from around the Commonwealth to decorate the home. On top of Commonwealth-themed games and activities, visitors can look forward to live entertainment including Bollywood dancing and a performance from talented local singer Jane Beaumont. There will also be an opportunity to try a variety of dishes from different Commonwealth countries.
Visitors will have a chance to meet the friendly team at Whitefarm Lodge, who will be in traditional dress from Commonwealth countries.
Shane Cosgrove, home manager at Whitefarm Lodge, said: “Here at Whitefarm Lodge we believe that building relationships with the local community is incredibly important in enriching the lives of residents, which is why we’re excited to be taking part in Care Home Open Day this year. Hosting a Commonwealth inspired party is a brilliant way of getting to know our neighbours and building intergenerational relationships between residents and local people.
“We have plenty of activities and entertainment on offer for all the family, so we hope that the local community will join our celebrations.”
