Work starts on multi-million pound Witney care home

Company news

Work has begun on a new £5 million care home which will provide quality care for older people in Witney.

Care UK and specialist construction partner, Lawrence Baker, have celebrated the start of work on the purpose-built home on Curbridge Road. When complete, the new care home will provide full time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 52 older people, and create 78 jobs.

The two-storey home, which is expected to welcome its first residents in March 2019, will include facilities such as a cinema, café and hairdressing salon. Secure and wheelchair friendly landscaped outdoor space will include sensory gardens, water features and seating to give residents the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors.

Gary Renton, project manager for Care UK, said: “We are delighted work has begun on the new care home in Witney, not least because this impressive development reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care in the town.

“At Care UK, we take great pride in the build quality, layout and design of each individual home, as these factors can greatly impact the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment. Our new care home will live up to these standards, and will provide a quality home for older people in Witney and beyond.”

Liam Shelton, contracts manager at Lawrence Baker, said: “Construction of this high-quality new care home has got off to a great start, and we are on schedule to complete the scheme in March 2019. This is a high-profile project for Lawrence Baker, and we are proud to be playing a part in the delivery of this much-needed new care home for the Witney community.”
