Francis Court hosts falls prevention event

Francis Court is inviting local people to a free advice-led event to find out more about preventing falls among older people.

On Wednesday 29th November, from 10:30am - 12pm, the team at Francis Court will open the doors to the care home on Borers Arms Road for its free event offering advice and guidance to all.

Dr Theodora Giorkarini-Royal, consultant orthogeriatrician and clinical lead in falls for East Surrey Hospital will give expert advice and guidance on preventing falls, tips on activities and exercises that improve balance and reduce the risk of falls, and advice on how to maintain independence.

After the event, visitors who attend the event will also have the opportunity to meet the team at Francis Court and take a tour of the care home.

Mary Ann Ballesteros, home manager at Francis Court said: “Here at Francis Court, we seek to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work. Falls prevention is very important to the team here, and to the wellbeing of the residents, as accidental falls can occasionally lead to further health issues.

“It is imperative we create a safe environment for older people in the community, so we’re sharing our expertise to help ensure the correct safety procedures are in place to prevent accidents.”
