The Care UK wellbeing foundation presented the Care Workers Charity (CWC) with the cheque at Care UK’s Sherwood Grange care home on Robin Hood Lane. The foundation aims to support colleagues who commit their time to charitable causes and regularly partners with organisations on both a national and regional level to promote wellbeing within the community.
Established in 2009, the Care Workers Charity supports current, former and retired care workers who have experienced some form of financial hardship. In making the donation, Care UK has joined the CWC Supporters Club, enabling CWC to have a sustainable annual revenue stream for grant giving.
Karen Seabrook, regional director at Care UK, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with CWC and to kick-start this exciting new relationship with a donation from the Care UK wellbeing foundation.
“Joining the CWC Supporters Club is a great opportunity for us to help raise awareness of their fantastic work and invaluable resources which are available to people working in the care sector. Carers provide essential support for those in need, so it’s reassuring to know that the CWC can lend a helping hand to them should they need it.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the team at Sherwood Grange for their hospitality in hosting the event.”
CEO of the Care Workers Charity, Alex Ramamurthy, added: “Care workers throughout the UK go above and beyond the call of duty to support those in need of care every day. However, it is often too easy to prioritise the care of others over themselves, and that’s where we can step in and provide extra support.
“On behalf of CWC, I would like to thank Care UK for their kindness – £10,000 will make a real difference to the lives of many care workers, and help to support them on a rainy day.”
One of the first events Care UK was able to support as partners of the charity was the CWC Cycle Challenge, a 75 mile cycle from Rugby to Oxford to raise funds and awareness for the charity.
